Our mission is rooted in empowering our community and preserving our heritage. Since our inception, we've been dedicated to advocating for the economic development of our community, lifting each other up in our wholeness, in both our strengths and vulnerabilities.

Goodfellas was founded by Tonya Gay-Jackson, an instrumental community leader and activist. Allegany Franciscan Ministries selected Tonya as part of their Common Good capacity building program. The Common Good Initiative was launched by Allegany in 2014, as a place-based initiative to create healthier, safer, and more connected places. Goodfellas Impact-Coalition was developed from the work of Tonya Gay-Jackson during capacity building sessions.

Initiatives & Programs

Our commitment to community self-empowerment and heritage preservation is manifested through developing a range of impactful programs we run ourselves, as local community members. Each program is designed to uplift each other as individuals, address specific needs our community self-identifies, and contribute to the overall well-being of our diverse community.

Economic Empowerment Program

Our Economic Empowerment program equips community members with financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. Through workshops and training, participants gain the tools to achieve financial independence, start businesses, and contribute to the community’s economic growth.

Community Voices: Stories of Impact

The experience of working with Goodfellas Impact Coalition is rewarding and impactful. They are a community treasure filled with effective and quantitative outcomes. Their work on obtaining the historic marker for Tut's Place (the first female owned and operated business is a significant part of Black History in Wimauma), gives testimony to their tireless work.
